About the Founder – Travis Wiescamp
Travis began working in construction during high school (around 1995) in Temple, TX, primarily with a landscaper who also handled accessory structures such as bridges and arbors. Following high school, Travis attended Texas Tech and earned a degree with three minors: Construction Management, Architecture, and Art with Technical English.
While in Lubbock, Travis gained experience working for a custom home builder and a foundation repair company. After graduating, he joined David Weekley Homes for a six-year tenure. Subsequently, Travis transitioned to employment with Bud Bartley Homes, a custom builder in Flower Mound, where he worked for six years. In 2008, he faced a layoff due to the economic crash but was later rehired, contributing an additional five years before venturing to start DCB.
Travis’s passion for hands-on construction and the satisfaction of creating tangible products has been a consistent theme throughout his career. Notably, the distinctive wood and metal features in the homes he builds are crafted in-house at the shop. This includes iron doors and accents, floating stairs, iron railings, fireplace surrounds, vent hoods, and more.
His unique edge lies in crafting distinctive wood and metal features in-house, setting him apart in an industry often reliant on subcontractors. From iron doors to custom furniture, Travis’s commitment to tangible, bespoke creations transcends traditional homebuilding, shaping enduring works of art.
